Software and databases designed
by BioAware
The CDROM software allows fast offline searches of the CBS, CABI and
NCCB databases,
as well as ordering of strains.
System requirements
To be able to search the available databases, you must have a MS-Windows operating
system (Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4 SP3 or higher, 2000, XP or higher with Internet
Explorer 5.5 or higher installed). For ease of use, a minimum of 32 Mb Ram is recommended.
Steps to perform for the installation
- Download the
software (click on the hyperlink) and save it on your hard drive
- Unzip the downloaded file and double click on the Setup.exe file and follow the
installation instructions
- Download the wanted database(s) (click on the hyperlink(s) below) and save it
(them) on your hard drive
- Unzip the downloaded file(s) and save it (them)
to a give directory on your hard drive. For example,
download the Yeasts database and save it in a directory
called C:\YeastsDB (any other name or location is valid).
If several databases have to be downloaded, then save
them in different directories (e.g. C:\YeastsDB, C:\FungiDB, ...).
- From the "Start" menu of MS-Windows, select "All programs"
(this may differ depending on the operating system you are using),
then "CDROM" and click on CDROM. Show me.
- The first time you start the software, you will be asked to select
the directory where the database to be searched is located.
Select the wanted directory.
In our example, you may select C:\YeastsDB. Show me.
- The program will then start using the wanted database.
