Colonies on MEA 17-22 mm in diameter; conidia green to dull green; exudate and soluble pigment absent; reverse yellow to red-brown. Colonies on CY20S 17-30 mm in diameter; conidia few (grey-green) or absent; exudate absent; reverse reddish brown to yellow; soluble pigment uncolored or colored as reverse. Colonies on CZ 12-20 mm in diameter; conidia pale green or absent; exudate absent or reddish-brown; reverse reddish brown; soluble pigment uncolored or colored as reverse. Colony diameter on CYA at 37°C 0-1 3 mm.
Stipes 200-450 um long, smooth-walled, uncolored to pale brown. Vesicles pyriform to spathulate, 9-12 um wide, hyaline to pale brown. Aspergilli biseriate. Conidia 2.0-3.5 um in diameter, globose to sub-globose, walls finely rough to rough.
As the name of this fungus implies, the conidia A. versicolor may be of various colors. This species is very common and displays great variability in colony pattern and size.
