Macroscopic characters

Colony diameter on CYA after seven days incubation at 25°C 15-27 mm; conidia white to yellowish white (2-3A2-3); exudate absent, hyaline or clear; reverse dull yellow to cream; soluble pigment absent. Colonies on MEA 20-27 mm in diameter; conidia white to pale yellow; exudate and soluble pigment absent; reverse light yellow to cream. Colonies on CY20S 25-40 mm in diameter; conidia white to pale yellow in color, exudate absent, reverse yellow (4A-B5); soluble pigment absent or yellowish. Colonies on CZ 13-22 mm in diameter; conidia white to light yellow; exudate and soluble pigment absent; reverse yellow to pale brown. Colonies on CYA at 37°C 17-26 mm in diameter. Sclerotia are formed on some media.

Microscopic characters

Stipes 350-800 um long, smooth-walled, hyaline. Vesicles 21-28 um in width, globose, subglobose or pyriform in shape, hyaline. Aspergilli predominantly biseriate, some uniseriate aspergilli may be present. Conidia 2.5-3.5 um long, globose to subglobose, smooth-walled.

Note

Small purple sclerotia are formed by some isolates of this species.
